Stainless steel filter mesh have become a key medium for improving filtration efficiency, pulp purity, and equipment stability in the increasingly competitive paper and pulp industry. As production line speeds increase and operating conditions become more complex, companies are placing higher demands on the corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and pore size stability of filter media. With its reliable structural strength, precise filtration performance, and stable performance in high-temperature and highly corrosive environments, stainless steel filter mesh are becoming a core choice for upgrading pulp filtration systems. For companies looking to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance paper quality, high-performance stainless steel filter mesh represent an effective technological investment for achieving lower costs and higher production capacity.

Impurities generated during pulp filtration, such as sawdust, plastic, and metal particles, can affect the cleanliness and flatness of the paper. Incomplete filtration can cause paper damage, black spots, and in severe cases, increased machine wear, frequent paper machine shutdowns, and a significant impact on production efficiency.
Stainless steel mesh, with its corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high filtration precision, effectively resists wear caused by chemicals in the pulp and high-speed, high-pressure filtration, while ensuring filtration quality. It plays a crucial role in pulp filtration.
High Corrosion Resistance: The paper and pulp industry relies on materials that can withstand high humidity, chemicals, and extreme pH levels. Stainless steel mesh's corrosion resistance effectively resists acidic/alkaline chemicals in pulp.
High Strength and Good Abrasion Resistance: Paper and pulp processing involves high temperatures and mechanical stress. Stainless steel mesh's good abrasion resistance allows it to withstand high pressure and high-speed pulp flow, reducing replacement and maintenance costs.
High Filtration Accuracy: The uniform mesh size and resistance to deformation of stainless steel mesh effectively filter particles from pulp.
Easy to Clean and Low Maintenance Costs: The smooth surface of stainless steel mesh is resistant to corrosion, making cleaning easier and significantly reducing filter maintenance costs.

304 stainless steel mesh is the most commonly used stainless steel mesh in pulp filtration due to its high cost-effectiveness, good corrosion resistance, and high strength. It is often used for filtering general wood pulp and waste paper pulp.
Common applications: coarse filtration, general pulp filtration, equipment protection.
316L is more resistant to acids and alkalis than 304 and has better corrosion resistance to pulp containing chlorine and bleaching agents. Therefore, it is more suitable for filtration scenarios containing bleached pulp and chemimechanical pulp.
Common applications: internal screen baskets of pressure screens, bleaching section filtration, processing of cultural paper and food packaging paper, etc.
Hastelloy mesh and Inconel mesh are more corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant than 304 and 316L, with a longer service life. However, they are more expensive and are generally used in more demanding filtration environments, such as strong acids, strong alkalis, and high-pressure environments.
310S mesh is extremely heat-resistant and is often used in the design of high-temperature chemical treatment or cooking sections. It is also used in some post-cooking slurry filtration equipment.
Duplex stainless steel mesh has high strength, high corrosion resistance, and a longer lifespan than 304 and 316L stainless steel. It is suitable for thick slurries and high-impact filtration applications.

1. Select the appropriate mesh size based on filtration precision and paper grade
We generally choose 10-40 mesh stainless steel mesh for coarse filtration to remove large particles from the pulp, and 50-80 mesh for medium filtration to homogenize the pulp fibers. If the paper grade is high, and there are high requirements for paper surface smoothness and color, fine filtration is necessary. A mesh size of 100-200 mesh can be selected to improve the quality of the finished paper.
2. Consider the material's resistance to bleaching agents and chemicals
304 stainless steel is generally sufficient for filtration. However, if high corrosion resistance is required, 316L can be chosen. For even higher requirements in corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high pressure resistance, alloy mesh, 310S mesh, and duplex stainless steel mesh can be selected.
3. Consider whether the structure is for high-pressure filtration
Filter discs and filter cylinders can be used for general filtration, but if used for high-pressure filtration, a more robust structure is needed. In this case, multi-layered mesh or framed filter screens can be selected.
Stainless steel mesh is an indispensable key filtration material in the papermaking industry. Choosing the right stainless steel mesh can improve pulp purity, ensure more uniform pulp fiber dispersion, reduce machine wear, extend equipment life, minimize downtime, and increase production efficiency.
